05.15 — Cycling Award '05
A cast glass award, shaped as an irregular, rounded block with sculpted, relief-like edges that capture the light much like a piece of ice. The front features a blue graphic of a racing cyclist, crouched low over the handlebars, whilst the glass stands upon a rectangular, dark wooden base with a lustrous finish.
The motif is applied using hot screen printing with ceramic colours. After printing, the glass is fired at high temperature, fusing the colour permanently with the surface so it becomes an integral part of the glass. Set against clear glass and a deep, polished base, the blue cyclist remains sharp and legible from every angle.
